A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is a document from a licensed healthcare provider confirming that a product is appropriate for your specific health needs. Under IRS guidelines, an LMN can make certain non-prescription purchases eligible for HSA/FSA spending.

Semaine uses a service called Truemed to provide you with access to LMNs. Truemed's independent licensed providers review your health intake form and issue the LMN if appropriate. 

You should keep it on file for three years for compliance purposes. LMNs issued through Truemed are valid for 12 months — you only need to qualify once per year.
